Editorial: Showing Our Support for Prof. Wojciech Sadurski

Prof. Wojciech Sadurski, who is a valued friend and member of our IACL Executive Council, is in court in Warsaw this week defending himself from a lawsuit (one of multiple lawsuits) aimed at silencing his robust criticism of the Polish government. This case matters to all of us worldwide who cherish academic freedom, and we want to help voice our strongest support for Prof. Sadurski at this crucial moment.

There are 4 key things you can do to support Prof. Sadurski and inform yourself about this issue:

  1. Read our IACL Statement in support of Prof. Sadurski, issued on 17 May 2019.

  2. Read our author interview with Prof. Sadurski about his recent book detailing the Polish government's attacks on the rule of law and democracy.

  3. Go to this Verfassungsblog link and read more about the lawsuits being taken against Prof. Sadurski and a letter of support signed by over 800 supporters earlier this year.

  4. Use the hashtag #WithWoj to indicate your support on social media. You can also post a photo of yourself holding the hashtag printed on paper.
