Editorial
The Blog is pleased to return following the 2026 Northern Hemisphere summer and resume posting after the successful IACL-AIDC World Congress for Constitutional Law, hosted by the Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogotá. This editorial brings a number of exciting updates and announcements for the Blog’s upcoming programming.
Symposia
As the sphere of constitutional law blogging grows, the Blog’s symposia enable it to continue to cultivate inclusive conversations about critical and emerging issues in global constitutional law scholarship. These symposia not only engage scholars across jurisdictions, but are, in some cases, even multilingual, broadening both access and the range of constitutional ideas offered for discussion.
In the remainder of 2026, the Blog will host several symposia. Programming began on 3 September 2026 with ‘Safeguarding Democracy Now: New Varieties of Militant Democracy’, which addresses evolving understandings of militant democracy across legal, political and institutional contexts. September and October will also bring a symposium on ‘Constitution-Building After the Arab Spring: Global Comparative Perspective’, drawing on Francesco Biagi’s Constitution-Building After the Arab Spring (Cambridge University Press 2024). This will be followed by a symposium on Melissa Crouch’s The Palimpsest Constitution: The Social Life of Constitutions in Myanmar (Oxford University Press 2025), which won the IACL Book Prize for 2025. As we move towards winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the Blog will also host a symposium on Female Chief Justices in Comparative Perspective, drawing on a recent edited collection.
We are grateful to all those who have expressed interest in hosting symposia on the Blog in the coming months and look forward to continuing to bring these conversations to readers in the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.
Personnel Updates
We would like to thank former IACL-AIDC President Prof Helle Krunke for all the support provided to the Blog during her term, and are especially grateful to our former Content & Communications Assistant, Bertil Vasiljev Brundstedt, for managing the Blog’s website and communications platforms. On behalf of the Editorial Team, we welcome new IACL-AIDC President Prof Selin Esen, and our new Content & Communications Assistant, Ali Erdem Doğanoğlu.
Platforms to Access New Posts
The Blog continues to distribute posts via its newsletter, for which readers can sign up on the website, on X, and most recently, on its new LinkedIn page.
General Call for Submissions
The Blog continues to welcome submissions on all areas of constitutional law of interest to a global readership. Posts are accepted in English, French, and Spanish, and the team encourages proposals for Author Interviews (in both written and video format) on new books. We also welcome the submission of Calls for Papers or other announcements of interest and relevance to a global audience of constitutional lawyers.
The Editorial thanks all the Blog’s contributors and readers for their continued support and engagement.
