Call for Papers: New and Emerging Voices in Constitutional Law
/Call for Papers
UCD Sutherland School of Law, University College Dublin
22 April 2026
Deadline for Abstracts: 13 March 2026
The UCD Centre for Constitutional Studies is delighted to invite early career scholars interested in any area of constitutional law to participate in the third edition of its annual New and Emerging Voices in Constitutional Law symposium, which will take place in-person at the UCD Sutherland School of Law on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
The event is co-organised by the Centre’s Director, Professor Eoin Carolan, and Dr Seána Glennon of the University of Ottawa Public Law Centre. It provides an opportunity for emerging researchers to gain experience in presenting their work, to engage with research currently being undertaken by peers in the constitutional law field and to network with other scholars at a similar career stage.
Applications are welcome from PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, lecturers and assistant professors who have not held an academic position for more than five years. Participants whose abstracts are selected will be expected to provide a more detailed written paper in advance of the event, to facilitate substantive discussion on the day. Papers may address any aspect of constitutional law, constitutional politics or constitutional theory. Comparative and interdisciplinary contributions are also welcome.
Interested scholars should submit a title and abstract (maximum 300 words) by Friday 13 March 2026 to Professor Eoin Carolan (eoin.carolan@ucd.ie) and Dr Seána Glennon (sglennon@uottawa.ca).
There is no registration fee to participate in this symposium. A limited number of bursaries may be available to assist with necessary travel and accommodation costs. Applicants who wish to be considered for a bursary should indicate this in the cover email accompanying their submission.
