Call for Papers

National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law

2 & 3 July 2020

The International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL-AIDC) is pleased to announce its inaugural Junior Scholars Forum to be held at the National University of Singapore on 2-3 July 2020, in collaboration with the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law’s Centre for Asian Legal Studies and Melbourne Law School’s Centre for Comparative Constitutional Studies. The Forum aims to provide junior constitutional law scholars with a platform (a) to develop their scholarship and interest in constitutional law, (b) to connect with other junior scholars from around the world, in particular bridging the gap between scholars located in the ‘Global North’ and ‘Global South’, and (c) to receive feedback on their research and writing from distinguished scholars in the field.

At the Forum, each participant will receive commentary on their paper from an invited distinguished scholar in the field of constitutional law. In addition, informational sessions will be held to provide junior scholars with guidance on navigating different dimensions of academia, such as methodology, publications, and building a public academic profile.

Submissions are invited from junior scholars on any topic related to constitutional law. Papers can be submitted in either English or French. Eligibility to participate in the Forum is limited to persons who have held a tenure-track position for less than seven years or are within seven years of completion of their PhD (or equivalent degree).

Interested junior scholars should submit a title and abstract (maximum 500 words) by 29 November 2019 via this link. Successful applicants will be notified by no later than 5 January 2020 and will be required to send a full paper (maximum 10,000 words) by 15 May 2020.

There is no registration fee to participate in this Forum. Conference meals will be provided by the organizers. Limited funding may be available to successful participants from all but high-income countries, according to the World Bank classification.

L'Association Internationale de Droit Constitutionnel (IACL-AIDC) a le plaisir d'annoncer que son premier Forum des jeunes chercheurs aura lieu à l'Université nationale de Singapour les 2 et 3 juillet 2020. Il est organisé en collaboration avec le Centre for Asian Legal Studies de la Faculté de droit de l'Université nationale de Singapour et le Centre for Comparative Constitutional Studies de la Melbourne Law School. Le Forum vise à proposer aux jeunes chercheurs en droit constitutionnel une plateforme en vue de leur permettre (a) de développer leurs recherches en droit constitutionnel, (b) de rencontrer d'autres jeunes chercheurs, et en particulier de faire se rencontrer ceux venus des pays du "Nord" et des pays du "Sud", et (c) de recevoir des commentaires sur leurs recherches de la part d’experts reconnus internationalement.

Lors du Forum, chaque participant recevra des commentaires sur sa contribution, formulés par un expert reconnu en droit constitutionnel. En outre, des séances d’information seront organisées en vue d'aider les participants à naviguer les différentes dimensions de la recherche académique, abordant des questions telles que la méthodologie, les publications, ou encore le développement d'un profil académique visible.

Nous invitons les jeunes chercheurs à proposer une contribution, en français ou en anglais, sur tout sujet lié au droit constitutionnel. Pour être éligible à participer au Forum, le candidat doit occuper un poste universitaire depuis sept ans au maximum ou avoir obtenu son doctorat (ou diplôme équivalent) il y a au plus sept ans.

Les jeunes chercheurs intéressés à participer au Forum sont priés de soumettre au plus tard le 29 novembre 2019, via ce lien, une proposition de contribution comprenant un titre et un résumé de 500 mots (maximum). Les candidats retenus en seront informés au plus tard le 5 janvier 2020. Ils seront alors invités à soumettre leur contribution (10.000 mots maximum) pour le 15 mai 2020.

Il n'y a pas de frais d'inscription pour participer au Forum. Les repas seront offerts aux participants. Un financement, limité, peut être éventuellement disponible pour les participants retenus provenant de tout pays sauf des pays à revenu élevé, tels que définis par la Banque mondiale (information disponible en anglais uniquement).
