The Institute for Comparative Federalism of Eurac Research, Bolzano/Bozen, the Faculty of Law and the Department of Political Science of the University of Innsbruck are honored to announce the 18th edition of their joint program, the

WINTER SCHOOL ON FEDERALISM AND GOVERNANCE 2027 

The Winter School is a cross-border postgraduate program located in the heart of the Alps.

The 2027 edition will focus on

“FEDERALISM AND THE CHANGING WORLD ORDER”

Dates: 01 February - 12 February 2027

The first week (01- 05 February) takes place at the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social and the Department Political Sciences, Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck, Austria;

The second week (08 - 12 February) takes place at the Institute for Comparative Federalism, Eurac Research, Bolzano/Bozen, Italy.

Deadline for applications: 12 October 2026, 23:59 CEST

The Winter School is designed for participants from all nationalities who wish to broaden their knowledge of federalism and multilevel governance through an interdisciplinary and comparative approach. We welcome applications from post-docs, postgraduate & graduate students, researchers, civil servants, employees of national/international organizations or NGOs. The Winter School explores how federalism can contribute to multilevel, integrated and pluralistic decision-making. It is a unique opportunity to receive training on theoretical and practical aspects of federalism and governance.
