Call for EoIs for Book Reviewers: Jindal Global Law Review

The Jindal Global Law Review (JGLR), the flagship journal of the O.P. Jindal Global University, Jindal Global Law School (published by Springer and indexed by SCOPUS as the first law review published in India), is calling for expressions of interest to review titles for its upcoming issue on ‘Critical Constitutionalism – Power, Rights, Justice’, to be published in June 2023 (Vol. 14 No. 1). The full list of titles is available here

JGLR particularly welcomes expressions of interest from reviewers who may be able to offer a less conventional perspective on the particular book(s) under review, depending on their regional or subject specialization. As stipulated in its Aims and Scope, ‘JGLR is especially interested in publishing works that expand and reimagine the boundaries of the legal discipline through innovations in method and form. We expansively understand “law” as an assemblage of ideas, theories, methods, concepts, norms, traditions, politics, moralities, aesthetics, doctrines, policies, pluralities, and life practices.’

Junior scholars, including postgraduate students with some experience in academic publishing, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The schedule for completing the reviews is as follows.

  • Deadline for expressions of interest: on a rolling basis by 20.11.2022

  • Selection of reviewers and distribution of book copies to review: on a rolling basis by 10.12.2022

  • Deadline for the submission of the review: 31.1.2023

  • Deadline for revisions (in case of a revise & resubmit decision or above) for the review: 28.2.2023

  • Fact checking and proofreading of accepted reviews: early March 2023

All submitted book reviews are subject to editorial and, in case of longer review essays, external peer review. As such, the Editorial Board reserves the right to reject book reviews which do not meet the academic standards of the Journal.

Expressions of interest are to be sent on a rolling basis until 20 November 2022 to jglr@jgu.edu.in, cc-ing the JGLR Reviews Editor at msteuer@jgu.edu.in. They should contain a short CV (maximum two pages, narrative or structured) and a specification of the reasons of interest in reviewing the particular title(s) for the upcoming issue of JGLR in light of the Aims and Scope of the Journal as well as the confirmation of availability to deliver the review within the deadlines provided above.

Questions are welcome to be addressed to jglr@jgu.edu.in, with msteuer@jgu.edu.in in cc.

We look forward to your expressions of interest. We would also appreciate it if you could circulate this Call to your colleagues or postgraduate students who might be interested.
