Call for Applications: Jean Monnet Intensive Summer School 2026 (PLAT-EU)

Applications are now open for the Jean Monnet Intensive Summer School 2026 on Participation, Lobbying and Transparency in the EU Institutions (PLAT-EU), organised by the University of Rome Unitelma Sapienza.

The Summer School will take place in person in Rome from 20 to 24 July 2026, bringing together participants from across the world to engage with key issues relating to democracy, transparency, and decision-making processes within EU institutions.

This intensive programme, delivered in English, combines lectures with highly interactive activities, including simulations, case studies, group work, and role-playing exercises. Some sessions will also take place at the Italian Parliament, offering participants a unique opportunity to experience institutional processes first-hand.

Scholarships

A total of 25 scholarships are available, covering the Summer School participation fees. Participants are, however, expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and related expenses.

Who can apply?

The programme is open to:

●     undergraduate and postgraduate students (under 30);

●     young professionals in lobbying (under 35);

●     civil servants, researchers, and experts in related fields.

Applicants should have a strong interest in democracy, institutions, and open society, as well as a good command of English.

Programme highlights

The Summer School focuses on lobbying legislation and practice, with a comparative perspective including Europe and South America. Participants will explore topics such as:

●     decision-making processes in the EU;

●     transparency and participation;

●     lobbying techniques and regulation;

●     ethics and anti-corruption mechanisms.

The course also includes preparatory online sessions and leads to a certificate of attendance with ECTS (or equivalent) credits upon successful completion.
