Announcement: Constitutionalism in the Age of Global Ecological Challenges

IACL Roundtable – Istanbul, 5–6 June 2026

The International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) is pleased to announce its forthcoming Roundtable on “Constitutionalism in the Age of Global Ecological Challenges”, to be held in Istanbul on 5–6 June 2026.

This event will bring together leading scholars from around the world to explore how constitutional systems are responding to the pressing realities of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. As these challenges increasingly shape governance and legal frameworks, the Roundtable will provide a forum for critical reflection on the evolving role of constitutional law in addressing ecological crises.

Discussions will focus on key themes including:

●     the transformation of constitutional principles under ecological pressure;

●     the role of courts in climate litigation and environmental protection;

●     the development of environmental constitutionalism across jurisdictions;

●     issues of climate justice, migration, and global responsibility; and

●     emerging perspectives from early-career scholars.

The Roundtable will take place at the Atty. Orhan Apaydın Conference Hall, Istanbul Bar Association (İstiklal Caddesi No. 163, Beyoğlu, Istanbul).

The programme features keynote and panel contributions from distinguished academics and practitioners, covering global, comparative, and interdisciplinary perspectives on constitutionalism and environmental governance.
